Scars are the result of trauma to the skin where there is a healed wound, whether it be from cuts and abrasions, or acne and other skin conditions. Scarring can look different on different people, or even different at various places on your own body.
Scars will generally fade to a soft, light, almost translucent colour and sit flush with the surface of your skin. Other scars may be raised or dimpled, or have a different colour, ranging from reds through to browns. Acne scarring in particular can have a sunken appearance, also known as pitting.
We offer clinical treatments to help reduce the appearance of scars, enhancing your skin’s overall texture and complexion.
AGNES radio frequency
The AGNES radio frequency machine is the latest in cosmetic technology from South Korea. The machine works by inserting microneedles under the skin which conduct radio frequency current down to your skins lower layers. This treatment has been shown to be particularly effective for deep ice pick and fibrotic banded scarring in addition to general atrophic acne scarring.
Medical treatments and medical grade cosmeceuticals
Medical treatments such as Triamcinolone injections are effective in helping shrink hypertrophic (bulky) scars. Gel sheet based treatments are also available for this purpose. If your problem is mostly pigmentation, medical grade creams and cosmeceuticals can be used effectively to help lighten pigmented scars and improve the skin appearance overall
PRP and factor 4
Platelet Rich Plasma treatment involves the use of your own plasma, full of growth factors, collected from your own blood, and then inserted back underneath your skin to accelerate tissue repair. You can expect to see reduced appearance of scars, including deep scarring, with up to 8 sessions of PRP treatment. This treatment also has other benefits such as reducing the appearance of fine lines and stimulating collagen growth.
Dermal fillers
Dermal fillers can be used to “fill in” pitted or sunken scars, so that they sit flush with the surface of the skin. Dermal fillers are not permanent as they are absorbed into the body in around 6 – 9 months, however they may be a solution for those who are prepared to keep up treatment or regularly get other fillers.
